Youssef Akdim (born 4 July 1985), known as Lartiste, is a French-Moroccan singer and rapper. Born in Marrakesh, Morocco, he moved to France at the age of 7, living in Bondi and later in Le Blanc-Mesnil outside Paris. At the age of 13, he became part of the rap band Malediction, and at the age of 16 he adopted the stage name Lartist in English. They released their first maxi solo “Evasion” in 2006 and joined the collective French Cut, releasing a mixtape, Rap 1.9, in 2010, incorporating a range of musical influences including funk, soul, pop, electro and African sounds.
